Claire has 2 decades worth of Primary and Early Years based experience, firstly as a class teacher and SENCo and more recently as a Creative Agent and Creative Practitioner. Working in all of these capacities has enabled her to gain an in-depth insight and understanding of what’s needed for successful collaborations between artists and different settings.

After leaving teaching Claire set up Aurora Artworks, which since 2007 has been run in partnership with Tony Yardley. Within the creative industries Claire has worked in a variety of roles including project manager, consultant and artist in residence.

Aurora Artworks is able to work with educational settings from the EYFS to Secondary schools on tailor made projects, utilising knowledge and understanding of best practice gained from years of working with Creative Partnerships and collaborations with dozens of schools and Early Years settings. Previous work has included – one off INSET design and delivery, long term CPD training, curriculum and policy development, working with all members of a settings community including parents and office staff as well as a variety of short and long term collaborations and residencies.

As well as the schools based work Aurora Artworks also produces commissioned pieces of visual art, from paintings to site-specific sculptures and installations. Woodwork also features strongly in the company portfolio – large scale bespoke items of furniture can be made to order, as well as a range of turned items which make ideal unique presents.
