James has a background as a session singer, music educator, songwriter, musician, bandleader and tour manager over several years. Following an extended period of working and travelling, James moved on into the broader field of community development and informal education, running projects and developing new courses and curriculum around life skills. From this, James moved on to the 'Arts Council',firstly as 'Music Officer' and then 'Head of Performing Arts in the East Midlands'. Cured from this experience, James moved 'back out' into his natural independent habitat to resume a career as a consultant.
James' approach to consultancy is to "mix it up". He aims to draw on experience and skills gained in different work areas - formal and informal education, research, group facilitation, songwriting, years of foreign travel, performance, business coaching, carpentry etc. - which he believes allows him to develop a healthy and distinctive approach to all of his work.
James currently works across the country in the cultural and creative economy, spending most of his time (in his own words) "joining up the dots" for companies, agencies and individuals. James remains an active songwriter and manages to continue performing regularly at acoustic and 'psycho-acoustic' venues and festivals around the country.
Growing up in London and the south-east, James now lives just outside Leicester with his family and four children.
