In terms of her artistic experience, Julie is a poet by nature and profession, and she has also become known over the last decade as a creative catalyst, an organiser of mixed arts events, a founder and director of various arts organisations and festivals and, according to her Equity membership, a broadacaster. A former Birmingham Poet Laureate. Currently, Julie is 'Poet in Residence' at Symphony Hall, Birmingham.
Julie has worked in secondary school as a teacher (English, Drama, Religious Studies and Philosophy) and as a Facilitator of Student Centered Learning, Specialist Visiting Teacher (Special Needs), Creative Advisor (Creative Partnerships). Julie has a vast amount of experience working as an artist in schools, universities and as a mentor to other artists; and in terms of business experience she also been the proprietor of a nursery school (5 years) and an Hotelier (20 years).
