Engaging Parents: What difference does it make?

This event is now closed

  • 1pm - 4.15pm
  • The Welcome Centre
    47 Parkside, Coventry
    CV1 2HG
  • FREE Cre8us event for all schools to attend! If your school had the relationship with parents that you want, what would it look like, and how can you move towards getting there?

Schools are continuously seeking to raise standards - primarily by making improvements to the curriculum.  What role does involving and engaging parents have in raising achievement, and what forms does this take?  Why not come along to our CPD session for teachers on Thursday 26th May 2011 to find out more!

How will the afternoon help your school?

    • Presentation from guest speaker Dr Janet Goodall*, University of Warwick, informed by her reports 'Do parents Know They Matter?' and 'Helping Families Support Children's Success at School'
    • Presentation from a local school on their approach to engaging parents
    • Interactive workshop with other schools to look at your own practice
    • Make connections with other schools focusing on parental engagement

*Dr Janet Goodal is a research fellow in the Institute of Education, at the University of Warwick.  Her research has covered school improvement, leadership and policy, including work on teachers' CPD, workforce reform and high performing leadership teams.  In addition to Janet's publication 'Do Parents Know They Matter?' and her literature review 'Helping Families Support Children's Success at School', Janet has recently completed a literature review on effective parental engagement for the Department for Education.

(You do not need to be working with Cre8us currently as part of the CP programme to attend...it is open to all!)

This CPD session is FREE (and includes a buffet lunch!)
